Search That Feels Less Like Asking—and More Like Already Knowing

Search is often treated like an afterthought. A utility. A magnifying glass in the corner that’s there if you need it, but invisible otherwise. But in Jot, the ability to find what matters—fast—is core to the entire experience. It’s not just about looking up a note you created. It’s about recalling a memory, continuing a thought, picking up where you left off, or reusing what you already know.
That’s why today we’re introducing a new kind of search. One that feels more like a conversation with your memory than a command to a database. And it all starts with a single input.
One Input to Do It All
We’ve designed Jot’s search around a simple idea: there should only be one place to type. Whether you’re asking Jot something new, trying to remember something you saved, or picking up a past thread—it’s all done through one unified field.
You can enter a keyword, a person’s name, or a full question. As you type, Jot surfaces relevant notes, past chats, and items saved to Memory in real time. You might be reminded of a list you made last week. A conversation you forgot to follow up on. A detail you didn’t know you’d need again—but Jot did.
This is more than just text search. It’s fast, intuitive, and built to understand meaning—not just words. Jot doesn’t just match keywords. It understands your intent and context, helping you locate the right thread of thought, just like your own mind would—only more organized.
Designed to Feel Instant and Intuitive
We didn’t just want the feature to work. We wanted it to feel obvious—like this is how it should’ve always worked. The input feels familiar and simple—just one place to type, whether you’re searching or asking.
As you type, suggestions appear instantly—refining in real time to surface what matters most. You’ll see relevant suggestions right where you’re typing—no need to leave the flow or open a new screen. And if nothing matches, Jot seamlessly shifts into answering your question—because sometimes you’re not looking for something you wrote, but something you don’t know yet.

Real-Time Recall, Powered by Search That Understands You
Under the hood, Jot blends fuzzy search (to handle typos and near-matches), semantic search (to understand intent, not just keywords), and memory-aware ranking to show you what’s most relevant—right now.
It’s fast. Like, instant-as-you-type fast. And it’s smart enough to connect “birthday dinner” with “Priya’s restaurant list” or find “passport renewal” when all you typed was “ID.” This combination of speed, understanding, and context-awareness makes Jot feel more like an extension of your thinking than a traditional note app.
The Memory You Wished AI Already Had
What makes this experience unique isn’t just the technology—it’s how it’s presented. Most apps separate search from chat. Or worse, separate search from memory. In Jot, your saved notes, AI answers, and items saved to Memory all live in the same place and speak the same language.
You can ask, “What did I decide about Tokyo?” and Jot will show you both the AI suggestion you saved last week and the group chat where you made your final call. Then you can click into either and pick up the thread, or ask a new question to move it forward. It’s not just recall—it’s momentum.
Built for Real Life
We built this for the moments when you’re on the go, mid-conversation, or juggling a dozen tabs in your mind. It’s for when you don’t have time to search, but still need answers. When you kind of remember the thing you wrote… and Jot helps you find it before you finish your sentence.
And it’s just the beginning. We’re continuing to refine how Jot understands your inputs, how it ranks what’s most important, and how it surfaces the right note, answer, or item saved to Memory at exactly the right time.
Try It Now
The new search experience is available starting today. Just update the app, tap the input field, and type anything. A name, a question, a fuzzy half-thought.
You’ll find more than just results. You’ll find your memory, waiting for you.

Make Memories

Jot now remembers things for you, so you don’t have to.
Introducing Memory, a convenient new way to quickly save images, links, and documents you share with Jot. With a tap of the new “Remember” button, Jot instantly saves your shared items to Memory, where they'll be ready for you whenever you want to return and turn them into notes, lists, reminders, or plans.
Why Memory? Because you often come across things you'd love to turn into something useful—just not right now. Maybe you've come across a delicious dinner recipe you want to try later this week but aren't ready to think about ingredients or prep just yet. Or you've saved a guide to running your first marathon that you're saving for training inspiration, but need more time to consider it. See a photo of a beachfront villa ideal for your family's holiday? Just tap “Remember,” and it'll be ready when you are.
With Memory, you quickly save what could be helpful, and thoughtfully organize it later—keeping your ideas handy and your mind clear.

Home Improvement

Jot's Home has a brand-new look—and there's good reason behind it.
Previously, finding your notes meant scanning through lists of text, making it easy to overlook important details or forget where you saved something. We’ve thoughtfully redesigned the experience with this in mind—your notes' cover images now appear directly on Home, making them instantly recognizable.
Why this approach? Our brains naturally recognize images faster than text—in fact, research shows visuals are processed in as little as 13 milliseconds, about 10 times faster than text. Whether it’s your latest recipe, upcoming travel plans, family activities, or essential research, cover images bring clarity and help your notes stand out. For instance, a note about an upcoming hiking trip with friends in the Alps might feature an image of Mont Blanc, so it's easy to spot at a glance.
We’ve also upgraded Jot’s AI, making responses more accurate, conversational, and context-aware, so interactions feel natural and tailored to your needs.
This update isn’t just visual—it transforms how you and those closest to you interact with shared notes, lists, plans, and reminders. With cover images providing instant recognition and AI anticipating your next steps, Jot helps you stay organized, spend less time searching, and focus more on what matters.

Turn Anything Into a Note

Saving things is easy—turning them into notes that are actually useful is the hard part. Jot now does that for you.
Quickly share images, links, and documents to Jot, and they instantly become helpful notes—without having to figure out what to write.
A pic of your favorite bowl of pho? Jot creates the recipe, lists the ingredients, and suggests just the right amount of sriracha and hoisin. A link to a travel blog about Berlin? Jot pulls out the best beer gardens and currywurst stands—so you don’t end up at a tourist trap in Mitte instead of a locals-only spot in Kreuzberg. A saved research paper on the latest AI models? Jot sums it up so you can see how Grok 3 stacks up against GPT.
And now, Ask Jot is always present, ready to assist with existing notes or new ideas.
No matter where your idea starts, Jot turns it into something organized, useful, and ready to share.
